Take code IP68 as an example: IP --- International protective standard, 6- means the level of protection for solid, 8- means the level of protection for liquid, below is the further description:

Solid protective level (the first number in the code)

Level 0   No Protection 

Level 1 Protect The Ingress of Solid ≥50mm

Level 2 Protect The Ingress of Solid ≥12.5mm

Level 3 Protect The ingress of Solid ≥2.5mm

Level 4 Protect The Ingress of Solid ≥1.0mm

Level 5 Dustproof 

Level 6 Protect the ingress of minor dust 

Liquid protective level (the first number in the code)

Level 0   No Protection

Level 1  Eliminate the adverse impact caused by vertically water drop  

Level 2 Protect from the water drop in an angle of 15°vertically
